INDIAN ARMY

Indian Army is a very large Organization. It consists of large numbers of personnel, material resources, equipment, inventory and stores. Even a small unit of Indian Army houses thousands of personnel, their family, equipment, stores and inventory. For a unit to function properly, the above mentioned stores, personnel and inventory must be managed efficiently.

Indian Army conducts open rally each year to recruit candidates to fill soldier posts. One may apply for the post of Soldier after passing 10th and/or 12th (depending upon the post).

There are categories within the soldier post:

  • Soldier General Duty (All Arms)

      • Age: 17½ to 21 years
      • Eligibility: SSLC / Matric with 45% marks in aggregate and 33% in each subject. No percentage considered in case candidate has passed with higher qualification i.e 10+2 and above.
  • Soldier Tradesmen (All Arms)

      • Age: 17½ to 23 years
      • Eligibility: 10th Simple Pass/ ITI (except Syce, Mess Keeper and House Keeper who may be 8th Simple Pass).
  • Soldier (Technical) (Technical Arms, Artillery, Army Air Defence)

      • Age: 17½ to 23 years
      • Eligibility: Sol Tech 10+2/Intermediate Exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English with 50% marks in aggregate and 40% marks in each subject OR Sol Tech (Aviation & Ammunition Examiner) 10 +2 / Intermediate exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English with 50% marks in aggregate and 40% marks in each subject OR Three years Diploma in Engg (Mechanical /Electrical/ Automobiles/ Computer Science Mechanical Engg and Electronic & Instrumentation Engg) from a recognized Polytechnic Institute( No Education relaxation for this category is existing presently).
  • Soldier Clerk / Store Keeper Technical (All Arms)

      • Age: 17½ to 23 years
      • Eligibility: 10+2 / Intermediate Examination Pass in any stream (Arts, Commerce, Science). Should have secured 50% marks in each subject and 60% in aggregate in Class XII. Should have studied English and Maths / Accounts / Book Keeping in Class XII or Class X. Should have secured min 50% marks in each of these subject, whether in Class XII or Class X.
  • Soldier Nursing Assistant (Army Medical Corps)

      • Age: 17½ to 23 years
      • Eligibility: 10+2 / Intermediate Exam pass in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with Minimum 50% marks in aggregate and minimum 40% in each subject OR In case the candidate has a BSc Degree with (Botany / Zoology / Bio-Science) and English, the stipulation of percentage in Class-XII is waived off. However, the candidate should have studied all the four specified subjects in Class XII also.
  • Soldier Tradesmen

      • Age: 17½ to 23 years
      • Eligibility: Syce, Mess Keeper and House Keeper who may be 8th Pass.

Marital status

    • You should not be married for this post, if you are married, then you cannot go to Army GD. you can get married after getting selected in it.

Physical test

  • Race
    • First you have to run under it, the distance of which is 1.6 miles (1600 metres). It consists of a 400 metre track, around which you have to put four rounds. You are given 5 minutes 39 seconds to complete this ground.
    • For this race, you are divided into different groups and then some people are selected from each group.
  • Pull ups
    • After the run, you have to do pull ups, under which you have to do a total of 10 pull ups, for this you must do at least 6 pull ups.
  • Jump
    • After applying pull ups, you have a jump test, in which you have to jump a pit of 9 feet
  • Balancing Beem
    • Balancing Beem is the last physical test, in which you have to walk on a thin band. This path to keep balance is zig-zag, so you have to maintain your balance on it.

Medical test

After the physical test, you have a medical test, when you pass the physical test, then any time after that you can be called for the medical test. In the medical test, your medical condition is checked.
