AIR FORCE X & Y WRITTENS

The Indian Air Force is the air arm of the Indian Armed Forces. Its complement of personnel and aircraft assets ranks fourth amongst the air forces of the world. Its primary mission is to secure Indian airspace and to conduct aerial warfare during armed conflict.

Any student can take this exam after graduation.

Indian Air Force (IAF) recruits for the post of Airmen in Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’ Trades. Eligible Unmarried Male (Indian/Nepalese) candidates can apply for Airmen Group X (Except Education Instructor Trade) and Airmen Group Y [(Except Automobile Technician, Ground Training Instructor, Indian Air Force (Police), Indian Air Force (Security) And Musician Trades}].

Eligibility Criteria for Airmen Posts in Group X and Y Trade

Educational Qualification :

      1. Group ‘X’ (Except Education Instructor Trade) – 12th / Intermediate passed or Equivalent examination in any stream/subjects with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English OR passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering in any stream.
      2. Group ‘Y’ (Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician)- 12th / Intermediate passed in any stream/subjects approved by Central/State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
      3. Group ‘Y’ Medical Assistant Trade Only – 12th / Intermediate passed or Equivalent examination in any stream/subjects with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

Age limit

      1. Candidate should be born between 17 January 2000 and 30 December 2003 (both days inclusive).only are eligible.Candidate should be born between 17 January 2000 and 30 December 2003 (both days inclusive).
      2. In case, a candidate clears all the stages of the selection procedure, then the upper age limit as on date of enrolment is 21 years.

Marital status and sex

      1. For the Indian Military Academy, and Indian Naval Academy, only Unmarried males are eligible to apply for CDS Exam.
      2. For the Indian Air Force Academy, both married and unmarried males can apply, however, marriage during the training is not permitted
      3. For Officer Training Academy, unmarried males & females can apply for the CDS Exam.

Selection procedure

Selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of

    1. Phase 1 (Online Test),
    2. Phase 2 Test,
    3. Physical Fitness Test (PFT),
    4. Adaptability Test- 1 (For both Group ‘ X’ & Group ‘Y’ Trades),
    5. Adaptability Test- 2 (For both Group ‘ X’ & Group ‘Y’ Trades)
    6. Medical test.
